I-Profit

I-Profit is a laboratory aimed at students, post-graduates and young professional figures who wish to prepare in order to approach, with critical sense, the world of professional careers, future clients, commissioners, work providers. In other words the market itself, with its' rules, crisis, occasions and compromises. Being a graphic designer is much more than a 'job', it is a role, a point of view, a knowledge we can invite our clients to participate in. As graphic designers we can face such a role in many ways, like products themselves, like apples: on one hand are the endorsed sticker-branded apples, on the other are the imitations (which are also an important part of the show). We can be farmers' apples or those that are shared by a community garden. The problem is more a practical one than an idealogical one, because what's most important is not trying to be what we are actually not, it is rather knowing ourselves and above all being able to communicate ourselves as we really are. To be able to do so we must be fully aware of ourselves, of our days, of our minutes, of the environment we move within, of our works, curiosities and passions. To communicate ourselves we must decide who to talk to,  investigating his/her expectations and foreseeing his/her moves. And we must be able to transform all this into a 16 page story so that we are able to intercept and select our future clients, making our offer appetizing while not adding or subtracting anything from what we really are.

Programme
Professional designers will guide participants in the research of a personal definition of “design” so as to obtain the ideation and project of an instrument better suited for presenting themselves while seeking for their first (or more suitable for their characteristics) job.
The following arguments will be discussed:
- the field of graphic design, artefacts and professions;
- the recognition of our qualities;
- organization of a studio;
- the AIAP pricing system;
- estimate prices, contracts and invoices;
- legal aspects of the profession.
Our special guests will explore some of the fundamental aspects of our profession.
Antonio Romano
, founder of Inarea, will illustrate the work mechanisms behind a successful network. 
Andrea Rudelli, AIAP lawyer, and one of the major experts on legal instruments regarding our profession will introduce us to the laws, rights and duties that regulate the relationship between designers and commissioners.

Material participants are required to bring with them:
- laptop computer;?
- digital photo camera;
- a selection of 10 self-realized works, both in digital and paper format;
- writing/illustration instruments;
- any other instrument deemed as necessary (magazines, photographs, articles, plastic materials, etc.). 

Aiap will also promote the participants' profiles through the association's website (15.000 monthly contacts), via the insertion of the results in a dedicated area and the insertion of a message in the Aiap job service system.
