The AWDA Biennial Award second edition is open to visual communication women designers. The Award originates within Aiap’s research activities, and aims at reconstructing and acknowledging the contribution that many visual communication women designers have given and continue to give to the universe of graphic design.
In its first edition, AWDA was opened only to Italian visual communication women designers. 112 designers participated for a total of 237 projects entered. The jury shortlisted 25 designers and 30 projects for publication. You can find information about the first AWDA Awards Ceremony and the volume in the page _Award to the side.
The Award includes four sections, covering various phases in the educational and professional life of visual communication women designers and providing a comprehensive overview of projects in this area of design. The four categories are: profession, research and education/training, teaching, and a special career award.
The international jury will select the projects suitable for publication, and among them will identify those to be awarded Aiap Women in Design Award 2015. The official Award-giving ceremony will take place during the next edition of DX Aiap, International Graphic Design Week, to be held in Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan (Italy) from 4th to 8th November 2015.
The AWDA second edition is open to women designers who live or work in European area and in MENA regions (Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Djibouti, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia).
The fee paid is unique and there will be no additional fees for winner and selected projects. The fee is different for non Aiap members and Aiap members, and also for one, two or three submissions. It is described in the section _Submission fee. It is not allowed to send a number exeeding three PDF regardless of the categories of participation.
Participants will upload the materials in the dedicated section of the AWDA website, fill in the online registration form after registering on the website and enter the username and password provided by the system. The uploaded materials cannot be modified or replaced, and the upload will be possible until October 20, the deadline set in the call.
The international jury, consisting of five prominent figures in the field of visual communication design, from different countries, is formed by: Majid Abbasi, Member AGI, Iran; Iva Babaja, President ico-D, Croatia; Yesim Demir, Vice President ico-D, Turkey; Cinzia Ferrara, Vice President Aiap, Italy; Laura Moretti, Graphic designer, Member Aiap, Italy.
